The Torch theatre

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 9:30 AM
The Torch Theatre is a local Longform Improv Theatre. The have multiple shows and classes. Thursday is the Level 4 student show. I know some might hear the word student and be turned off, but I been doing this for a while, and took this class again to continue to hone my skills. It was a small class. There was only 4 of us, but it was a good one. The 3 guys I were are all pretty quick and we had a nice vibe together. I also think extremely highly of Jacque Arend our instructor.

Plus the show is at Deus Ex Machina, a venue I really dig.

After airing five episodes, ABC has canceled the Kelsey Grammer disgraced-CEO-returns-to-small-hometown sitcom Hank. What do you...

Custom voicemail greeting

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 8:29 PM
Is there a way to record a voicemail custom voice greeting other than by using my actual iPhone? Is there an AT&T phone number I can call where I could record my outgoing voice greeting using a land line?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone wifi conflict, HELP!

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 8:48 PM
Something has gone awry somewhere, help!

My set up at home is thus.
One Ethernet router to which two PCs and one MacBook are hard connected, plus one wifi router connected to the Ethernet router, to which my iPhone connects to.

It has worked fine since I installed the wifi router.
This weekend, me and my other half have been away. I think it may also be the first time (but I don't recall exactly) that my iPhone has been turned off fully since I put the wifi router.

Anyway, we came back from our weekend away.
Other half put all the computers (well, his and mine) on, and the routers both come on too. His internets and mine were working. I had a bath then turned the iPhone wifi on and this, for some reason suddenly knocked his PC offline with the message:

"Windows-System error
There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"

Now I'm not an expert but I assume this to mean two computers are attempting to sit on the same IP (I thought maybe the iPhone's wifi reset to router 192.168.1.1 - that's the IP it's telling me the connection is on.)

However his PC is almost definitely on .0.2 or .0.1 not 1.1 so I don't know why there's a conflict.

I just plugged the wifi router back in with the iPhone's connection off. His PC's internet works again. Very very odd. HELP!

My PC doesn't seem to be affected (not tried the Macbook yet, I expect it to be fine). He tried a different port on the router for his PC ethernet cable, and that made no difference! Baffling!

Edit: I'm not sure my iPhone is using the wifi when OH's PC is connected either, despite it saying that it is connected - I'm almost 100% definite that it's using the GPRS signal I get here, it's running very slowly.

I have tried changing the IP Static address to another number, that doesn't seem to have helped.

Exercise schedule

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 3:10 AM
Yuck. Why did I eat that? I just ate a donut which I purchased knowing very well I would regret doing so immediately upon devouring. I actually purchased several donuts, but in a rare feat, threw the others away. I'm never the type to throw away food. I always eat everything. EVERYTHING. And I eat often. I love food. (That's why I created the community [info]fat_cow way back when God was a boy.)

Anyway, when I'm eating healthy - which I try to do most of the time, though I am a sucker for sweets, and I never eat as healthy as I'd like - I eat six times a day, once every two hours. Of course, I exercise regularly, too - or try to, at least. This past week, unfortunately, I did not engage in cardio at all, and I only did weights three times - the most recent occurrence was Wednesday. Egads!

So, in an attempt to make sure I stay true to my exercise ideal, I actually, for the first time ever, planned my exercise routine for the week. Imagine that. Me. Planning. I never plan anything! (At least on paper.) Anyway, this schedule is mainly for me, so please feel free to ignore it - and actually, I should have stated that at the beginning of this entry as to not waste your time. My apologies. Do forgive me.

This Week's Routine*

Sunday
Cardio: 60 minutes
Biceps & Shoulders: 60 minutes

Monday
Pilates: 40 minutes
Abdominal: 20 minutes
Triceps & Back: 60 minutes

*This is the routine I try and/or would like to follow each week, though it's a rarity if I actually accomplish this 100 percent.

At Pracna, Jimmy and Jeni went off to the bathroom at the same time. James came back first and dropped this on us"
Jimmy: I want to tell you something that only guys can appreciate: my urine smelled wonderful.
He went on to explain that his urine smelled "delicious" and "like steak." Then Jeni came back and we had to talk about flowers or puppies or something girly. Pee jokes always make me giggle.

Mirena Insertion Yesterday

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 9:22 PM
Hi all,

First off I want to thank everyone for contributing to such a wonderful, supportive and informative community. The information I found here really helped me make my decision to get an IUD and made me feel informed and empowered.

I'm 29, NP and have been on HBC for the past 10 years or so. I always had easy regular short periods on the pills but after 10 years I'd really like to see what my body can do without them. I'm in a monogamous relationship, but I'd also like to decrease my chances of an accidental pregnancy. I chose Mirena because I already know my body doesn't have any horrible aversion to the hormone and lighter irregular periods appealed more to me than regular heavier ones with no hormones.

My Insertion Story )

I feel fantastic today. Cramps are barely noticeable. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you Divas!

1 Year Mirena Questions

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 11:49 PM
I'm 21, married, NP.

Next month will mark 1 year that I've had my Mirena [woo!]. So far, I've loved it. All of my friends who have had an IUD had bad experiences with theirs, so I'm hoping their bad luck doesn't rub off on me. My insertion was painful and I cramped horribly and bled horribly for a straight month afterwards. After that, it died down and I realized that anything caffeinated or carbonated was irritating my cramps. I didn't pay any mind to the first 6 months, because I figured that was the main adjusting period and figured things would settle down after the 7th month.

Pre-Mirena:
Heavy bleeding
Horrible cramps [I was practically bed ridden for the first couple of days]
Approx 5 days

Post Mirena:
Light bleeding
Bad cramps around time of period in right leg and hip [I can take an 800mg Motrin and be fine]
Spot 2-3 prior, stop 1 day, period 3-5 days, stop 1 day, spot 4-6 days after

Will this spotting ever go away? I like that my period has been lighter and the cramps have been better. I'm skeptical about doing Motrin therapy [1 Motrin a day] because of the long term side effects from it. I eat well, I try to stay hydrated, and do light exercising. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that. I've talked with my doctor about it, but she says that it will lighten up. It hasn't - in fact, the spotting has gotten progressively longer! Is there anything I can do?

Is the pain in the leg [never below the knee] and hip normal? Sometimes it goes to my outer vagina. My husband comes home in the next couple of months and I want to not be spotting/hurting like I am. :\ Thank you!
